a poem
It’s a minor miracle
A commonplace occurrence
My being here
Not unlike anyone else alive
Though states may vary
Happy to despair
Health to decrepitude
Honor to disgrace
All living to this moment
Forgetting the uncommonality
So few when viewed afar
Death is so much more plentiful
Or simply lack of life
No chances even given
Potential of nothing
Before thought can even form
This minor miracle
This commonplace occurrence
Is truly rare indeed
Simply an improbability
Equations of infinitesimal result
We are but a chance
Built upon a happenstance
Randomly found
Persisting beyond the fraction
What maybe feels minor
Is truly worth this gratitude
Of the chance of life
