Old Habits

a poem

Smoke and decay fills the air
Leaves crunch beneath footfall
I embrace the chilling wind
Snow closer than afar
As the sun sets earlier
Chased by cold and rest
Maybe it is a good time
To let things die
Old habits and bad routines
The pieces of me I don’t want
Rake them up with leaves
Burn them
Bag them up and waste them
I am bored by them now
Still I find it hard to let go
Autumn is a good time, though
To make the change I need
