a poem
Activity in the other room
Pungent air wafts to me
As I wonder if I can return
Not to them, as I am there
Rather can I return to me
To who I am
Instead of what is expected
To continue this lie
Society needs to justify
Its own lies
Unwilling to let us be
To self discovery in the wilds
Only if it can be defined
Categorized
Accepted
Can I tell society to fuck off
If it can’t accept me
Even as it can’t accept itself
Pushing the lie
Down our throats
But I want to create
Not consume
Share what I see in life
How I see the world
Others choose different
Wanting us to buy
Eat and become gluttons
Of anything we can
Fed on hedonistic whim
I don’t want it
It bores me
But oh! To build!
Bringing worlds to life
If but with paper and imagination
To do this
I could call living
