Tomorrow’s Lie

a poem

We yearn to believe them
As they call for us to die
Against an enemy we must
Kill or see our ways destroyed
Our lives and families and homes gone
Thus we must to hatred call
Yet today’s call of truth
Is nothing more than tomorrow’s lie
If you wait long enough
To find their power is paid
In blood of those who believe
The propaganda they spew
Convincing us of dire circumstances
When all that truly is needed
Are for those who call for war
To sit under the bombs they drop
Removing the only callings for war
Their endless thirst for power
