Habits can be a lot like writing a story. Each habit a simple word or phrase assembled together, each supposed to build upon the last. Bad habits become the sentences we placed in haste or laziness, or carelessness, or for the purpose of stroking ego, or any reason.
We edit our lives, pruning habits and adding more, hoping to build a great story of who we are and what habits we dedicate ourselves to. Build small habits on large and large on small. We adjust, pushing out not only those that are destructive, but those we no longer need, those habits that have lived beyond their purpose.
It isn’t a perfect analogy, nor is it ever a perfect process. Much of our lives are spend building and deconstructing in some form or another. Our habits are just a part of it all.
