“Sweet Words”

Words try to permeate my skin
Warm comfort and overt praise
Ego wishes to absorb it
To stroke its own need
But I must resist that urge
Lest it will fog the land
Before my eyes
Blinding me from the path
I must take to appeal to truth
But those words…
They are so sweet to hear
