Free Fiction Friday – Safe to Move

Every Friday (or close to every Friday) I am posting a short work of fiction that will be free to read on my site. Please enjoy this week’s piece!

Safe to Move
by Jeremy C Kester

It was a brief, momentary flash of light.  Whatever it was, I was blinded. It came out of nowhere as I was making my way through the dark woods.  Protecting myself, I just ducked down and waited as the white blotches over my vision faded away. I knew that they weren’t looking for me, but that wouldn’t change anything.  I’d be dead regardless if they found me there. Once I could see again, I stood and checked my surroundings. I should be safe to move now.
