Borrowed Time

Given the events of the last week, expect a few more posts of life and what it means to be alive. It’s the way I will be coping. As from my prior post, my father fell deathly ill while my family and I were visiting them in Philly. This extended what was supposed to be a visit for a short couple of days into an unknown mess of emotions.

Well, my dad survived and is recovering, which is great. I still feel exhausted though, much like I imagine my family is to this day.

It’s also given me a few questions that I have to find answers to. Questions like: what do I want out of life? What legacy do I want to leave behind? How can I do more of what I love: writing, spending time with family, making people happy?

I am not going to go into much detail about what happened, about what I had to witness. Suffice to say that the entire event shook me. Anyway, I want to get better, just as was my goal before. So I am back, and I am going to pick up where I left off with a little more effort into improving my craft, a little more effort put into living.

  1. Glad your father survived and I hope he continues to be well. Moments like these do seem to kick us back into gear and help us realize what is important in life.
